THE DAILY DOWNLOAD / SPACEXAI / GROK

Grok 4.7 drops, and Grok Bot is clocking in.

Grok 4.7 landed Sept 21: a bigger brain for coding at the same price. Grok Bot, the agent that does chores for you, passed 400,000 weekly users and now comes in team size.

The TL;DR

  • Grok 4.7 (Sept 21) is the most powerful Grok yet for coding and knowledge work, at the same developer price as Grok 4.6.
  • Grok Bot, the always-on agent for chores like email and invoices, passed 400,000 weekly users about a month after launch.
  • Team Bots arrived in public beta on Sept 28: one shared bot for a whole team, with everyone's chats kept private.

Quick rename first: the company behind Grok, formerly xAI, now goes by SpaceXAI. Yes, as in rockets. Peak Elon. OK, moving on.

Grok 4.7 landed on Sept 21 with a new, larger base model and a longer training run on harder tasks. SpaceXAI calls it twice as fast at half the price of comparable models, and its score on CursorBench 4.0, a coding test, rose from 40.4% to 46.3%. Developers pay the same as before: $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output.

The bigger story for normal humans is Grok Bot, launched in August: an always-on agent with its own cloud computer that handles chores like email and invoices. Bloomberg reported it passed 400,000 weekly users about a month in.

On Sept 28, Team Bots arrived in public beta for Teams and Enterprise plans: a shared bot with its own Slack handle, the team's files and tools, and separate private conversations for each person. Bloomberg also reports SpaceXAI is weighing one combined Grok + X subscription. Nothing is decided yet.

Why you should care

Every big AI company now has an agent that works while you're away, and Grok's is already in the hands of hundreds of thousands of people. Expect an AI "coworker" in your group chat or Slack sooner than you think. Same advice as always: give it only the access it actually needs.

Vibe check

Fast, cheap, a little chaotic. Very on brand.
